Colorado University freshman, Eric Anderson, remains in an intensive care unit at the Boulder Community Hospital after being struck by a drunk driver.
Anderson was eating his lunch on the campus at a table outside a Cheese Louise Lunch Truck. At that time, an SUV barreled into the lunch truck, nearly tipping it over. The SUV continued into a pole and bike rack, hitting Anderson before coming to a stop.
The driver of the SUV, 73 year-old Brenda Geers, failed a roadside sobriety test following the car accident. Boulder, CO police say that Geers was on her way to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting when the accident occurred.
Anderson suffered cracked ribs and a collapsed lung in the auto crash and remains in the intensive care unit at the hospital at this time. Anderson was responsive to hospital personnel and was able to recall fully the circumstances of his accident, which are good signs for his condition moving forward.
