On the morning of Saturday, November 16, 2013, a few minutes past midnight, the deputy sheriff in Shoreline, Washington received a call that his daughter had been involved in a serious car accident. The daughter allegedly was under the influence when the car accident occurred.
On November 16, deputy sheriff Tim Brewer received a call that his 22 year-old daughter had been involved in a vehicular accident. Brewer’s daughter had been driving southbound in the northbound lane of a highway. While driving in this direction, she collided with a sport utility vehicle. The collision caused the SUV to become airborne and land on the roof of the daughter’s vehicle. The daughter and her passenger were not injured. However, one of the passengers of the SUV sustained minor personal injuries. Both vehicles involved in the car accident were severely damaged. The daughter may have been under the influence of alcohol, and therefore impaired while driving.
The daughter is an accomplished student and athlete at Shoreline Community College and is known for her strong work ethic. She has never been in trouble with the law. Brewer was professionally and personally shaken up and has stated that although he is a member of law enforcement, he does not feel that those in his position are free from the legal consequences of their actions. He has spent a large portion of his career working to prevent events like this from occurring. So, although all of the evidence surrounding the accident and what led up to it has not been collected, Tim Brewer is struggling with what the legal and personal results of his daughter’s behavior will be.
