40 year-old Michael McCallum was a back seat passenger in an August 12th car accident that took his life. McCallum was killed when the driver of the car, 23 year-old Charles Covington, sped headlong into a tree that afternoon.
The automobile accident occurred behind Acme Auto Plus on 1371 Farmington Avenue, a dirt road in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Police have no way of determining the speed at which Covington was driving at the time of the car crash, but according to witnesses, the car was moving incredibly fast.
A 16 year-old Bristol girl was in the front passenger seat of the car. Both she and Covington were taken to a nearby hospital emergency room with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. McCallum was taken to a hospital as well where he later died from his auto crash personal injuries.
McCallum was a mechanic and father of five children. He was married to Kaitlin McCallum, but was in the process of getting divorced at the time of his wrongful death.
Covington has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and manslaughter. He will appear in court on November 27th.
