Jason Kidd, point guard for the NBA team the New York Knicks, was arrested last Sunday for alleged drunk driving in Southampton, New York.
Kidd was driving his car by himself at around 2 a.m. early last Sunday morning when he crashed his car into a telephone poll. Police responded to the scene to find Kidd “visibly intoxicated.” Kidd was taken to a local hospital emergency room to be treated for his personal injuries. After being released, he was taken to the Southampton Police station for booking, and later released on his own recognizance.
Kidd has not yet released a statement regarding the incident, though many expect one soon.
Back in 2001, Kidd was involved in a domestic violence dispute with his then wife, Joumana Kidd, when Kidd was also drunk. Kidd publicly admitted to a long battle with alcohol abuse, but recently said that he had given it up.
