Six women, all in their 20s, were out celebrating on a girls’ night in Beverly Hills, California. At that time, the driver of their BMW SUV suddenly lost control of the vehicle, which caused the SUV to jump the curb and strike a nearby tree. The impact of the collision caused several of the women to be launched out of the vehicle. One of the passengers ejected from the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while all five others were taken to a local hospital with various injuries. Of those who survived, one is in critical condition, but it is believed she will live.
When officers arrived, they determined that none of the women had been wearing their seatbelts. Further investigation showed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, which combined with the speed the SUV was traveling, were found to be the two most likely causes of this crash. The driver was arrested for DUI; any other charges have yet to be filed.
