Sammi Kane Kraft, a 20 year-old actress and athlete, died from her personal injuries sustained in a horrific California car accident last Tuesday.
Kraft was a passenger in an Audi that was speeding on the westbound 10 Freeway near Crenshaw Boulevard at about 1:30 am. At that time, the Audi collided into the back of a tractor-trailer truck. After veering to the side, the Audi was struck by another car.
Following the auto crash, Kraft and the driver, Molly Kate Adams, 21, became trapped in the motor vehicle. The Los Angeles, CA Fire Department personnel were able to free the two women. Kraft was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center emergency room where she was pronounced dead. Adams was taken to the California Hospital Medical Center emergency room where she was treated for moderate personal injuries.
While at the hospital, Adams was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving.
In the 2005 remake of the classic comedy “Bad News Bears,” Kraft played the role of tomboy pitcher Amanda Whurlitzer. Kraft’s real-life 70 MPH fastball helped earn her the role in the movie.
