Two-Truck Accident Leaves Indiana Driver Seriously Injured.

A truck accident early last Wednesday morning on Interstate 80 in Lake County, Indiana left a Wisconsin truck driver, Dennis Shulze, 50, seriously injured.

An off-duty police officer had pulled over a suspected impaired drunk driver when a trash hauler semi-truck came upon the traffic stop. The driver tried to avoid hitting the police car by changing lanes but his truck was then hit by another semi.

Shulze was pinned inside his cab. Emergency responders got him out, and he was airlifted to the hospital with “life-threatening injuries” according to the Indiana State Police.

The suspected impaired driver, 21 year-old Ronald Blankenship of Gary, Indiana, was taken to the Lake County Jail and is facing a charge of drunk driving.
